2020 has definitely rained on all our parades, from the 4th of July to Labor Day weekend all of our plans have been seriously affected by the pandemic. But don’t let this year dampen your spirits! There are tons of fun activities for this holiday season. We introduce you to socially distant December. Here are five awesome activities for you and your loved ones.    
 

Decorating

It is always important to set the mood, bring out the holiday decoration boxes! Enjoy traditions like setting up the Christmas tree,  your Menorah, hang lights around the house and place a wreath on the door. Set an ambiance at home to spread all the holiday cheer

Don’t miss the chance of taking a photo with Santa this year! (With all the necessary protocols, of course) Wear your best outfit and remember to take your letter…oh! I don’t forget your phone, snap snap!

Mistletoe Market

Get your gift list ready and tackle your shopping at the Mistletoe Market! With a variety of vendors you can find clothing, beauty products, jewelry, food and more! The event is free, but if you buy an RSVP ticket and present it, you get the chance to win a special prize. The market will be held inside two former store locations at the Burr Ridge Village Center from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12.
 

Some guidelines provided by the event:

 

  • Masks are required for entry.

  • Maintain a 6-foot distance between you, other customers and vendors.

  • Use hand sanitizer before, during, and after market if you touch something. i.e. a vendor’s table, your keys, etc.

  • Keep your children with you at all times.

  • If paying in cash, bring enough small bills and coins to pay without needing change. Or be willing to allow the vendor to “keep the change."

  • Stay home if you or a family member is feeling ill.

Kiwanis Cookie Walk

 

Join the first annual cookie walk in  the Historic District of Downtown Plainfield, IL. Not only do you get to enjoy a dozen delicious homemade cookies, walk around the beautiful pedestrian area filled with vibrant venues and shops all with the backdrop of the restored historic buildings, you are also helping a cause. All proceeds from this event will go to the  Kiwanis Plainfield Scholarship. A ticket includes a holiday decorated bag for your goods, a bottle of wine or a homemade hot chocolate, a map with the participating bakeries and, of course, a bunch of cookies!
